Thanks for checking in with us…and you may be asking “So, what do we need a website about marriage for???”  Well, let me tell you…

Marriage has been around for thousands of years—and for good reason…marriage (healthy marriage) is good for you!  Of course we suspected as much, or we wouldn’t have kept it up for so long, but—believe it or not—there’s nearly 40 years of research about WHY it’s good for us, WHAT goes wrong in marriages, and HOW to have a really good marriage.  And we want to share that information with you!

WHY marriage is good for us:

Some of the reasons are that married people rate themselves as happier (overall) than single people; married couples generally have more money than two singles (even living-together couples); married people live longer and have better overall health than singles; parents (especially fathers) have better relationships with their kids than single parents; and kids who live with their own married parents do better in school (and get in less trouble) than kids who live with single parents.  Now, don’t think we’re criticizing those single parents—we know they’re doing the very best they can, and many of them are raising fabulous kids!

So WHAT’s going wrong with marriages these days?

Well, lots of things have changed over the years—some of them are good, but some of them not so much, and those changes have led to couples who are more frustrated, less committed and more likely to get divorced than to hang in there with each other and work through the tough stuff to get to the incredible rewards of a life-long marriage.

And HOW can couples have a good marriage?

The REALLY great news is that couples just need some information and to learn a few basic skills that empower them to live out their dreams of a satisfying life together.  That information comes from the research, hundreds of new programs to help couples, and dozens of websites like ours, that are working together to get the word out to you about healthy marriage.

So, stick around, explore our site and let us know what you think!  Our goal is to help you have healthier relationships with all the people in your life—let us know what you find helpful, what can be better, and how we’ve made a positive difference in your relationships.  We’re waiting to hear from you!

Julie
